We are incredibly proud of our school council and the work they do on behalf of our students for our school.  They were the first school council in Trafford to form a written constitution and the opening line taken from the Convention of Children’s Rights sums up their work very well:

Children have the right to say what they think should happen,

when adults are making decisions that affect them, and to have

their opinions taken into account.

(The Convention on the Rights of the Child, Article 12)

St Matthews School Council Constitution 2017-2018

At St. Matthew’s CE Primary School our school council have a clear mission:

‘working on behalf of our fellow students to improve our school and community’

Playground improvements! (12.10.2017)

After speaking with their class mates the school council decided they would like to improve playtime and lunchtime activities on the playgrounds. The Councillors had a look at a variety of catalogues and came up with lots of fantastic ideas such as basketball and netball courts, sports equipment boxes that can be rotated daily as well a variety of floor markings where they can make up their own games. We have had to work to find the best prices for our budget and have placed an order! Watch this space for photographs once the equipment and playgrounds are ready!
